Why Learn to Play Hockey?

USA Hockey recommends that all kids who want to learn to play hockey enroll in Learn to Skate first.  Our Learn to Play Hockey classes teach future hockey players how to skate with an emphasis on hockey skating skills. USA Hockey’s  Five Star Hockey Development Model lists Learn to Skate as the first thing that kids should take when beginning hockey.  Hockey is a unique sport similar to water polo in that you dont start playing water polo until you learn how to swim.  The same holds true with hockey,  being able to skate well is essential to being successful in the sport of hockey.
